Dr. Leslie Hemedes

Dr. Leslie Hemedes

Therapist in Walnut Creek, CA

My name is Dr. Leslie Hemedes, PsyD (PSY29620). I am a California licensed clinical psychologist offering compassionate in person therapy to individuals and couples living in the San Francisco East Bay Area, and telehealth to all California residents. Over the last 11 years, I have worked with diverse populations in a broad range of settings. Throughout my career, I have worked with adults, teens, and couples with concerns related to: depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, career/work, sexuality, self-esteem, life transitions, pregnancy, transition to motherhood, acculturation, grief & loss, & divorce. In my practice, I have a strong interest in working with concerns related to Women’s Health & Relationships.

As a psychotherapist, I use a strength-based relational approach that emphasizes collaboration and openness. During our time together, we will explore and better understand how early experiences, significant relationships, genetics, and the social surround have impacted your ability to feel productive, satisfied, motivated, and fulfilled. We will work together to remove emotional barriers, resolve conflicts, and identify the tools necessary that will allow you to move through your life with better ease and fulfillment.

Whether this is your first time entering therapy, or if you have had prior experience, the process of finding the right therapist can be a daunting task. I firmly believe that in order for therapy to be useful, supportive, and effective, an established level of comfort and ease within the therapeutic relationship is needed. Within the first 2-4 sessions, we will explore the motivations that bring you to therapy, uncover where these concerns are coming from, and identify strategies that will help you move away from a place of being stuck.

Ultimately, my hope is that this space offers a warm, collaborative, confidential, & non-judgmental environment that will allow you to feel safe sharing your experiences. If you feel that I could be a supportive voice to help you find the answers that you are looking for, I encourage you to schedule a Free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss the ways that I may be able to support you.

More About Dr Leslie

Before meeting Leslie, I had never done therapy before. It has always been something I wanted to do and something I was interested in but never found the time or courage to follow through with. Growing up, therapy wasn't always something that was positively stigmatized, so it was easy to find excuses to not go. There were things I needed help working through, however, and I knew I wouldn't be able to continue to take it on myself.

I found me asking myself the same questions in different ways and always coming to the same conclusions. I'm not saying that I was tormented by these questions/answers but I knew that I needed a fresh, new and professional angle. I wasn't going to be able to dig as deep without having the proper tools to dig.

I knew that therapy was working for me when I started to openly share my feelings in normal conversation with friends and family. I found myself thinking more deeply about how I was affected by something or taking a particular situation and viewing all of the angles and how I felt about potential outcomes. When speaking with friends, I found myself being more understanding and sensitive—asking them questions about how they felt. It was all kind of "weird" but I knew it was very helpful.
